HOW YOU CARE FOR YOUR CLOTHES MATTERS AS MUCH AS HOW THEY WERE MADE
Washing accounts for a significant proportion of a garment's lifetime environmental impact — from water and energy use to fibre microshedding. Caring for your JAG pieces well keeps them looking better for longer and reduces their footprint with every additional wear.
01 · General care principles
Four habits that go a long way
WASH LESS OFTEN. Most garments benefit from airing between wears rather than washing after every use.
WASH COLD. Warm and hot cycles use significantly more energy and can damage natural fibres.
AVOID THE DRYER WHERE POSSIBLE. Line drying or flat drying extends fabric life considerably.
STORE PROPERLY. Natural fibres breathe - avoid airtight storage, and hang or fold according to the fabric weight.
02 · Care by fibre
Different fibres, different rituals
LINEN
Cold gentle machine wash or hand wash. Turn inside out. Air dry and iron on a warm setting for best results. Linen softens beautifully with each wash.
COTTON
Machine wash cold. Turn inside out to preserve colour. Air dry. Heavy cotton items like denim can be spot cleaned and aired between washes.
DENIM
Wash as infrequently as possible to preserve colour. Cold wash inside out. Never put denim in a hot dryer. Air dry flat.
